The Coca-Cola company, (known as a branch of the American army by the informed), is the only multi-national company in the world that uses coca, (the plant that gives cocaine) to make popular food products on a global scale. To those who may not know, it can do so because it is protected under some “grand-fathered legislation” explicitly recognized by a special United Nations Convention. No wonder then, coke is America’s number one consumer products. No wonder they say “coke is good is for you(u)..ess(s)…aaay(a)…”

Cocaine is produced from coca, a small herb that is indigenous to south and central America. Coca is a herb used culturally by millions of south American for thousands of years now. It is chewed for endurance, energy and for the suppression of apetitie. Bolivia is the biggest cultivator of coca herb in the world. Although, the plant is an integral part of Bolivian indigenous culture, coca, as well as its base ingredient for cocaine, is banned outside theSouth American region of the Andes.

So though Bolivia could theoretically speaking develop this plant and exploit its economic and health aspects, for example developing its use as an invigorating energy boosting tea and tonic, it cannot be done due to a United Nations prohibition against a plant created by the universe.

Bolivia therefore can’t export its popular tea, for example. Neither can it exploit the use of coca in other ways that would earn it some needed income. Its people must remain poor therefore, ever condemned to the godless condecensions and arrogance of western benevolence and charity.

However, the U.N. Convention on Narcotics offers an exception when the leaf is used as a “flavoring agent.” Hence via this backdoor, the Coca-Cola company of the United States of America is permitted to import tons of coca leaf as “flavoring agents” to be used perhaps even today in the so-called secret receipes of coca-cola.

The Coca-Cola company refuses to disclose any part of its secret formula, but reporting suggests the coca leaf is in the recipe. We know cola is there, sugar is there, gum arabic, and that zingy feeling that comes from drinking coke, may well be the mild high of coca leaf.

The Bolivians are no fools, either. They are rising up to the occassion and are relentlessly pursuing avenues for exploiting the riches of coca. Recently, a small company in Bolivia introduced “Coca-Colla” into the local market (Colla refering to the native Andean highland people), a new energy soda that proudly uses coca as a main ingredient.
