Global Slave System of the Western World: Nehesy
The “kingdom” of Angola has been created by Portuguese in order to create a slave supply province for their colonies but also for their slave business interests (selling slaves to spanish for instance).
Ndongo later called Angola was only one of the several south provinces of the Congo Kingdom with a congolese Vassal. Kabasa or Mbanza was the capital of the Ndongo Province, the vassal ruler was called Ngola.
The congolese vassal of Congo was controlled by Portuguese but the real king of this created kingdom was the portuguese Paul Diaz and his followers ( ie the Portuguese Governors of Angola) . This criminal portuguese (slave trader) made several plots against the congolese people, he was put in jail for 7 yrs in 1561 ( with 2 portuguese Priests) because he failed one of them.
After this period of 7 yrs in Jail he went back in Portugal. He was appointed Governor of Angola ( which didn’t exist yet ) by his king in April 1574. Since then he prepared an armed expedition to take control of this Congolese province.
Paul Diaz left Lisbon in October 1574 with a portuguese army : 7 ships with 700 Soldiers. The portuguese war of destruction in order to create a new kingdom ( a slave supply province) started.

The general excuse is that Africans sold other Africans which is not the whole truth.
– Europeans specially Portuguese kidnapped first many Azanaghi and others in Africa;
– The first slaves of the Portuguese and specially the Spanish of the new worlds were their white convicts brethen ( Forzados and Lançados) and some Berber or Azanaghi ; You had Berber slaves in Hispaniola (santo domingo), and cuba for instance ( see Michael Gomez , ” Black Crescent)
– Europeans furnished guns to their African allies in order to get slaves, during the political troubles;
– The African rulers who sold their subjects were actually fake kings empowered by their European Allies (Portuguese and French), like the JAGAS of congo. They made slave raids with the portuguese but the very day they rebelled against their masters , they were attacked and sold as slaves in Brazil ( see : Maroon societies by Richard Price)
– Some of the biggest slave traders in Africa were White and Mulattoes like : William Ormond, John Ormond, Faber, Gomez, Lightburn etc
The funny thing is that in historic books , Native Indians rebelled against slavery and preferred to die , it’s a big lie. Native Indians in the Caribbean have been the first slaves of the new world ( Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola), Colombus in his 3rd Trip sent 700 hundreds native indians slaves to Spain. Nevertheless French and English allowed a Native Indian Slave trade by furnishing guns to their allies, divide and rule this is what they know best. For the Indian slavery see these 2 books:

The Spaniards organised a white slave trade in the West Indies it is well known, it was specially women and they were called “Esclavas Blancas o Esclavas cristianas” in english ” White Women Slaves” or ” White Women Christian Slaves” . At that time there were asientos or contracts to deport these white slaves in the new world like they did later for Africans later.
Spanish scholars of the medieval slave trade usually say that these white slaves were in majority white moors from Barbary, however it is a huge lie because many scholars ( Charles Verlinden is the main contributor to this truth) have shown that Spanish slave traders (Catalans) organised a white slave trade in Spain before the Spaniards discovered the new world. These slaves were Slavic people, Greeks, Sardinians, circassians and other white slaves from the black sea area.

The Spanish king allowed the introduction of white slaves in the West indies as soon as 1512
In July 1534 a cedula allowed to Rodrigo Contreras , a governor of Nicaragua , to introduce white slaves. Fernando Pizzaro introduced 4 white women slaves in Perou for his brother the famous Francisco Pizzaro. The yougest of these white slaves had 10 years old. Inés de la Casas , sister of law of Bartholomé de las casas has also a white slave in Mexico or New Spain
Many of these white female slaves have been deported to Puerto Rico and Santo Domingo, for breeding purpose mainly ( The Spanish king did not want the Spanish conquistadores to mix up with the Indians) but also for prostitution.
The sellers of these white slaves were Spaniards of course but also also other nations like the Germans who lived in Sevilla (one of the most important slave center in Europe with Lagos and Lisboa in Portugal).
This enslavement of white slaves in the Spanish colonies continued until the 17th century and disappeared only because white slavery was abandoned in Europe around the 17th century (not totally though) and the rapacious slave traders found a new fountain in Africa. In Cuba , you could find white slaves (greeks) at least in the 18th century.
The Mexican scholar Gonzalo Aguirre Beltran gives also some example of Greeks slave in Mexico.
The first slaves to be deported in the Spanish West Indies before the Africans were deported , (and after the Spanish started using the Native Indian as slaves). Bartholomé Las Casas recommended the use of White & Black slaves instead of the Indians

Well , Jews, Muslims, and Heretics slaves were now allowed into the new world as requested by the Spanish kings.
These whites slaves as described by the spanish were ” Esclavas Blancas Cristianas” or White female and chritians slaves; so mainly women used for the sex trade or for marriage ( breed a “white” spanish population instead of mestizos i.e Spaniards + Native Indian women)
As said above, some of them were white berbers and called ” Esclavos Berbericos”. At least 100 hundred of them (slaves and freed) have been deported to Santo Domingo or actual Dominican Republic (see George Scelles as a reference).
Many of these white berbers slaves were kidnapped in North Africa ( Oran for example when conquered by the spaniards) or reduced to slavery when the spaniards conquered their land back (reconquista)
Sevilla in Spain was also full of these white slaves ( see Alfonso Franco Silva).
Now for the conversos or marranos as slave traders they were not ALL expelled after 1492, from Spain or Iberia ( meaning also from Portugal)
In Hugh Thomas’ book “The SLAVE TRADE: THE STORY OF THE ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE: 1440 – 1870 ” (I’m still not a fan of this historian though) ; you can find in chapter 9 ” A Good Correspondence with the blacks” , the name of these conversos (and millionaires) slave traders in Sevilla.
The spaniards merchants had lot of of bad blood against them ; they had the monopoly of the slave trade during Philip II’ reign ( his councellor was a converso too), and controlled the silver traffic, as highlighted by Hugh Thomas.
They had connections with their brethen in Amsterdam, Portugal ( many of them were Portuguese conversos), Africa ( Cabo verde, Senegal) , New world ( Brazil, Santo Domingo, Curaçao, Rhode Island, Jamaica etc ) and Congo/Angola where many conversos were to be found to organise the slave trade for the spanish colonies and Brazil.
Some of these conversos were even at some times , Angola’s governors so they organized also the slave trade from Africa.

You are right when you say that white slaves were the biggest slave population in Spain , in visigothic Spain but also when the moors came , whites represented the biggest slave population. In fact when Romans conquered Spain , they enslaved the native population and imported Scythian slaves who worked in the mines.
