Kali is one of the original Hindu Goddesses. She is the undisputed black Queen of India.
The name Kali is derived from the Hindu word that means “time.” Kali is also a word that stands for “black” in India.
Hindus worship Kali as a manifestation of the Divine Mother, or the female principle. She shares some affinity with the ancient Egyptian goddess Sekhmet because just like Sekhmet was reverred in Kemet, Kali is also known as the giver and taker of life in the Hindus valley.
Some call Kali the goddess of destruction. But then just like Sekhmet, she destroys is sin, ignorance and decay only to recreate vitality, beauty and vigour.
She is equated with the eternal night. She is the transcendent power of time. She is also the consort of the king of Gods of India, the black dreadlocks God, Shiva.
We are an Italian Association No Profit of Indian Studies named VAIS (you can see our home page on http://www.vais.it).
We organize conferences on Indian themes and book publishing.
We planned for September/ October 2012 publication of the book “Yogin?, the shady side of the Goddess” of Dr. Zanderigo Guido, a scholar of Indian art at the University Ca ‘Foscari of Venice. Among the images chosen to be included in the book, there is this one we’ve seen in your site. We kindly request you to use it, of course, indicating the site of origin or the author.
We therefore ask you to use it free from copyright.
Waiting for your kind notice,
Best regards
