Charles Stuart II the black boy
Merry King Charles Stuart II: The Black King of England – Oguejiofo Annu

The word Stuart comes from the old nordish root Svart which means black. Stuart is the same word as Swarthy, which means black in old English. [Others claim its root origin is Steward]. However that might be, this is not the crux of the story here. Our story is about the suppressed history of the Black and Brown Europeans including several kings that had once called Europe their original home.

There was once a Stuart line of Kings in England. The name of the founding ancestor was Stuart.

In this post, we feature the original painting of one of the Stuart Kings of England and Scotland, King Charles II, also lovingly known as the “black boy” of England by his subjects.

He is commemorated in the celebrated name of the Black Boy Inn, found all over the British Isle.

Like his ancestors before him, King Charles II was a black man. Many of his surviving paintings falsely depict him as a so-called white man in clear contradiction to the famous description of the jolly King.

However, in the picture posted immediately below, one can see one of the contemporary paintings of King Charles Stuart II, Merry Black Boy of England. This picture invites all to decide why King Charles Stuart II, would have been called the black boy.

Charles Stuart II the black boy

King Charles Stuart II 1630 – 1685

The eldest surviving son of Charles I and Henrietta Maria of France, daughter of Henry IV of France, the future Charles II was born on 29th May, 1630, at St. James Palace, London, the second child of the marriage, he replaced an elder brother, Charles James, who had died shortly after birth.

It was said that when Charles was born in 1630 he was nicknamed the Black Boy by his mother, Queen Henrietta Maria, because of his dark and swarthy appearance

In 1646, following political crisis, his father Charles I was overthrown by Oliver Cromwell and beheaded. Charles II had to flee for his life through Scotland and on to France after making a weak and symbolic attempt at regaining the Stuart title. Fate and reality had soon dawned on him. He settled into a life of penury in France.

Upon the death of Oliver Cromwell, Charles was recalled back to England by Cromwell’s legatee and son who had no interest in ruling England. Charles was restored back to the throne and his coronation took place at the traditional venue of Westminster Abbey on 23rd April, 1661.

The Merry Monarch as he was later to become known, is famous for his many mistresses. Although he had numerous children by his mistresses, the Queen, to her great sadness, remained barren.

Charles popularity with the people was solid. Despite the ravages of last great outbreak of the Bubonic Plague struck London in 1665, which claimed thousands of lives; and the great fire of London 1666 which completely destroyed the city, he was highly favoured by the people.

He died without an official heir on 6 February, 1685 after a brief illness and was succeeded by his brother, King James II. He was the most beloved of all the Kings in the line of the Stuarts.

Black King of England

According to the annals of the english monarch:

Charles’ appearance was anything but English, with his sensuous curling mouth, dark complexion, black hair and dark brown eyes, he much resembled his Italian maternal grandmother, Marie de Medici’s side of the family. During his escape after the Battle of Worcester, he was referred to as ‘a tall, black man’ in parliamentary wanted posters.

One of the nick-names he acquired was the black boy His height, at six feet two inches, probably inherited from his Danish paternal grandmother, Anne of Denmark, also set him apart from his contemporaries in a time when the average Englishman was far smaller than today.

English Pubs

All English pubs named the Black boy are named after Charles II due to the swarthy and dark colour of his complexion.

Modern European painters try to hide the racial identity of this jolly King by depicting such fantasy as is posted below:

  1. Correct me if I’m wrong – But with regards to the name Stewart it is defined in Oguejiofo Annu’s dialogue as meaning black in a direct reference to stengthen some believe that King Charles II was black. Do I assume it is also believed that James VI of Scotland & I of England also named Stewart was black or indeed his grandfather James Stewart V and what of his mother Mary Queen of Scots was she also black. I thing the whole Idea belongs on a forthcoming series of “Fantasy Island”

As far as Im concerned the name Stewart or indeed Stuart derived from the “Steward of Scotland who married King Robert the Bruce’s sister Marjorie and hence the Stewart line began.

Or are you now going to say that “The Black Douglas” King Robert’s right hand man was also black!

    1. I don’t think this black dynasty stops at just King James or a small section of pan-European royalty during and prior to this time, considering Europe was taken by storm of the Moors, who were indefinitely black people. Look up the etymology of Moor http://etymonline.com should help.

I know this will soon come to the point that modern-day Berbers are white, yes, -MODERN-day- berbers are white.

It is quite funny how hard it is for whites to grasp the fact that they did not mold the cultures of the entire world, how can whites mold Europe, the Middle-East, and Asia, when a small fraction of the world today (and most likely then) was white? I’m guessing whites just too much cunning (though they developed a writing system far later than most black cultures) and strength (though they are genetically less powerful) to be defeated by blacks, correct?

          1. I do not know to that extent. I know however that Red people like you came from the caves of central Asia.

Your tribes are recent immigrants to Europe (arriving between 2 BC to 1500 AD) when you consider that Africans have been in Europe since the beginning of time.

Google up the Silures of England and you will see that they the original inhabitants of England had dark skin and curly hair and probably came from South of Spain. When you are south of Spain, looking for those with curly hair and dark skin, do you look to West Asia, or do you look towards Africa?

      1. Also the Moors only took Spain – and then lost it. Admittedly they did some amazing things in Spain and have contributed to a very rich culture on that peninsular. But that doesn’t make the Spanish black. The arab’s took North Africa – so does that make all North Africans Arabs rather than black?

        1. Wrong! The Muurs were in Europe before the Romans. The invasion from North Africa into Iberia in the 7th century AD was just one phase of the Muurs. Muurs were also in Italia, in Ireland, in England, in Germany, in Greece, in France, in Denmark, in Holland, in Norway and Sweden.

Boy, you need proper education. I thought you was a “master’s history student.” You are a liar…lol!

          1. To Nemithe

Actually their is a Moor in Noway. It’s Me, Howdy! :o)

            See my youtube channel, DoMoreGoodDeeds.

          2. that was suppose to be a smiley face, it looks nothing like Mu, I mean me. 🙂

  2. You people are nuts. The hair is a wig! All the aristocracy wore long, curly wigs in the 17th century. Amd you need to look at the Royal lineage to really ascertain as to whether he was black or not, and it’s just impossible that he was.

    1. King Charles 2 via his mother was a descendant of Francesco I de’ Medici who was a descendant of Alessandro de’ Medici, Duke of Florence -A black man. History has been white washed unfortunately hence your comments.

      1. Alessandro de’ Medici wasn’t black. You can’t hinge your entire argument on assertions. Do you also believe that the Jews were black and that white people were created as part of an experiment that went wrong???

        1. Rob, you are a clown and a joke not a history student. Alessandro de Medici was a black man. He was an Italian Muur!

          Alessandro de Medici’s picture:

          http://www.aaregistry.org/aareg_files/event_images/AlessandroDeMedici.gif

          Alessandro de Medici:

“The birth of Alessandro de Medici in 1510 is celebrated on this date. He was a Black Italian ruler during the 16th century.

The son of a Black [Italian] woman named Simonetta da Collavechio and the 17-year-old Cardinal Giulio de Medici who later became Pope Clement VII. ”

          1. Produce a published article from an official source from a legitimate website that has proper references and authors with Phd’s from reputable Universities and your argument might have some more weight.

          2. Little Rob, you are arguing with authenticated pictures. It is only a fool who argues with pictures. Find me one source that says the wood cut image above is not Charles Stuart II.

If you have no clue of Charles Stuart II, the black boy then go study boy! Lol!

I just schooled you on Alessandro de Medici, schooled you on the red man called Eric the red, after doing all that, you are unable to make no other comment.

Then like a little spoilt brat, you change your main argument and ask for something else. We call that red herring in formal logic 201. Fallacy of argument.

You have been destroyed as a poser. My little “Master’s history student” my foot…lol!

        2. Rob, google or go to the library and look at a picture of the painting of the Jews who were enslaved after the Pharoah who loved Joseph died. The original egyptians and hebrews (jews) were darker than hersheys chocolate. There is a painting of 30 white women who were brought to the Pharoah as slaves, but there were not many whites in that part of the world during that time period.

  3. Princess Diana was a direct descendent of Charles II, no sign of dark skin or hair in that quarter! Many of her family members had or have red hair just like the traditional Stuart kings i.e. James I of England.

    1. Sarah , african people and people of color can create every color of hair, eye, and skin on the Planet. DNA is datable and the white professional have concluded that Eve had to have been a black woman. When whites started having babies with white, they got lighter and lighter because there were now two weaker gene specimens recreating a weaker person. This is why the world is only a 1/4 percent white people. Remember, Hitler was killing those mixed Jews because they knew that they came from the original Jews (Hebrews) who were black. Hitler was ethnically cleansing black( African) blood and genes from the land. The first Italians were black also. You could have found this information on youtube and google, done by DNA geneticist. The first Chinese were black, they checked the DNA of many Chinese men and all of them were traced to Africa.

    2. I don’t get your point, my father was a black Nigerian my mother is white English. I am what they used to call halfcaste (lighter skin colour than my father) I married a white woman my children are lighter than me, they in turn have married white people I have nine grandchildren and all of them can pass for white and two of them are blonde haired. My point is that it does not take long for the black pigment to be overcome by the white pigment, so your point about Diana is not valid.

  4. This is unbelievable, if he was a black man why wouldn’t they have showed him as a black man instead of white. I believe they were trying to cover it up and were ashamed of having black people in their family and in the royal family, and he had children but I have looked everywhere and can’t find any picture’s or artifact’s of them. If anyone could tell me how to find pictures, I would be more than glad to hear it. THANKS!

    1. Look up the ” Black Madonna ” known all over the world. They painted Mary as white but google the black madonna and then try to believe that all over the world, they are lying and made up that Mary, the mother of Jesus was black, just like the hebrews in Egypt. They mixed with lighter people also, and lighter mixed with lighter, hence, what you see today in Isreal but there are plenty of black Isreali who have been there for many, many years.

  5. LOOK UP THE RENAISSANCE JUST A LITTLE DEEPER AND YOULL GET IT ie Michelangelo…ie the Roman Catholic Church …payment for white washing portraits …but alas it seems black folks aint the only ones that dont like to read
