  1. I just wanted to ask you something. I assume you know a lot about Rastafari and the culture around it. I’ve read that Rastalivity is just the livity, the righteous rules that you live by, so there for I was wondering if you can call yourself a rastaman without being convinced that Haile Selassie I (Bless his soul) is the reincarnation of Jesus? I am not trying to offend or criticize, I simply want to know what people think about it. I am sorry for my ignorance but I read a lot about RastafarI and I really love the message, the community, the oneness, the love of nature and the love for all living beings but can one be Rasta without the belief in Haile Selassie I? Please give me your thoughts about it, would truly help me a lot.

    1. Can you be a Christian without the knowledge of Christ? Or a Mohammedian without the knowledge of Mohammed, or Buddahist without acknowleding Buddah? To be a Rasta man, one must know, accept and live by the teachings of Rasta. Rasta is the name Haile Selassie was called before he became the Emperor and changed his name to Haile Selassie I. To be a Rasta’s man is to be a Rastaman.

      I don’t know what you are talking about “believing” in this or that. Rastas have no idols to believe in. Rasta man deal with natural science, natural mystics, and knowledge. Truth and wisdom, so although Rastas respect all beliefs, Rastas do not partake in any beliefs. InI is scientists knowers! Rastas overstand. Overstand.

      InI do not “worship” the King. InI honour the King.

      I honour my King by living according to his teachings, according to his livity, according to his works.

      Overstand, this.

        1. The word Ras, like Dejametz is a title for Ethiopian nobles. Ras is higher in status. His Majesty’s birth-name is Tafari Makonnen. He was given the title of Ras as he grew in stature/responsibilities/abilities/wisdom and overstanding. When put together, the two words Ras and Tafari we arrive at Ras-Tafari – Rastafari.

          We he was crowned emperor he assume the name Haile Selassie meaning Power of the Trinity, along with the other titles for example, King- of Kings, and Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, etc.

          Ethiopians believe in two types of divinity, divinity in and of itself (God), and divinity by corporation (the Apostles/disciples of Jesus for example).

          Not all Rastas/dreads believe that Haile Selassie is an incarnation of Christ. Rasta Livity is a way of life, nothing more nothing less. One’s levity is either right or evil. Furthermore, there are three Houses of Rastafari, Twelve Tribes, akin to Christianity, Nyabinghi, and Bobo Ashanti. Members of the latter two Houses believe that His Majesty is fully divine. Let every man and oman be convinced in his or her own mind.

          Here’s some food for thought, Jesus stated that He and the Father is one. Selassie denied all inference of his attributed divinity, and said he himself worship Jesus /Yeshua Christ (Christos).

      1. Adam was not the first man Brodren. He was the first man JAH told to tend to the land and watch over the animals. Man and Oman INI ALL were created at the same time in JAH image. Man and Oman to be fruitful and multiply. Yet that is over looked for their is power in knowing.

    3. Yes. A rasta is a person who puts Jah first above all else. So with that said, if you put Jah first and understand that everyone is equal, you can call yourself a rasta. Rastafari is a complicated spiritual mindset with no “official” beliefs. It is a very elegant and rewarding lifestyle. The Rastas worship the same God as the Christians and Jews. It’s no different.

    5. I don’t see Haile Selassie as reincarnate Jesus, H.I.M. is the Christ incarnate, a saver of souls, just as the Eyesus Christy’s was a time before. The is no law or dogmatic assertion making your daily culture unacceptable or slack. Judgement is left to Jah, although recognition of Haile Selassie in his true and perfect light as the Christ compassionate is the root of rasta, so therefore there really is no being Rasta without respectful recognition of H.I.M. IN as God Head Messiah. Consciousness for Rasta has evolved from these roots.

InI Give Tanx onto His mighty i Jah Rastafari, Blessings in the name of the Most High, king i hear what you sayin right but clearly don’t u know a lot about His Imperial Majesty so let me explain this to u very simple, and please go do research on this Okay! Haile Selassie I is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords Conquering Lion from the tribe of Judah, Elect Of God ‘Power of The Trinity, Jah Rastafari. If that doesn’t paint the picture more clear on who H.I.M is to ini The Messiah! So No! One can not be Rasta and not be conscious enough about once God. (e.g thats lik say ur a Christian but don’t believe in Jesus)

    7. I am loving the diversity displayed here about Rastafari which I am presently trying to learn about. To those of us that call ourselves Christian this is very different, we would have built a building next door already and called it something different and started talking about the guys next door. Big up to the rasta man!

I believe that Rastarfarian r a special religion,that was formated through spiritual beliefs.However d KINGS OF KINGS & LORD’ of LORD’ is JESUS.JAH derive from d name JEHOVAH.no man that have walked among us and b reconize,cannot b d KING OF KING’S.I can understand d belief due to some Rastar quotation.with all respect due!where does d marijuana smoking comes in?i love all people,i do admire Rastas for their untold strenght..     2. Smoking comes from the bible. The holy oil that the Israelites used had about 4kg of flowering bud(them boys were on mars). In exodus 30:23 it give the ingredients for this holy oil. You see that it mentions 250 shekels of qaneh-bosm. A shekel was about .0016 kg or maybe a little more.

      Gen 1:29-31 states that the Ancient of Days provided herb for the service of men. In Isaiah 18:4-5 there is an analogy for cannabis smoking made by The Most High.

      Every time The Most High is seen in the bible they are burning incense of herb.

      It is a spiritual food. Nothing but positive vibrations flow with the use of cannabis. To me consumption of cannabis brings in a Buddha like state. I’m no rasta, but I hope that helped.

        I am trying to be a rastaman, and with these words of wisdom and overstanding, I feel inspired.

        Indeed The Holy Herb was made by JAH himself and gave it for the service of man. I have experienced the Irie feeling, and all I can say is, Herb is a spiritual boost to overstanding His Majesty’s teachings and commands. Herb is the healing of the nation, it brings forth wisdom and overstanding. I feel closer to H.I.M whenever I am irie.
